DAHER AND MAZURCO ARE WINNERS AT LODGE LANES
Abed Daher and Doug Mazurco won the Doubles tournament at Lodge Lanes. This was the
first title for each in the Budweiser Michigan Majors tour. They had to win four matches in the
stepladder finals for their title.
Eddie grace had 1580 and Ken Wyatt 1441 for a six game total of 3021 to pace the 35
team entries. Grace – Wyatt hung on for 5th place after the semi-final round to make the
stepladder finals. Dale Strike – Matt Mueller moved into the # 1 seed. There were two 300
games in the qualifying round by Grace and Lonnie Jones.
The finals used the baker system where each bowler alternates frames. They each bowl
five frames.
Daher-Mazurco came out throwing strikes by string the first 7 strikes. Daher came up light
leaving the 2 pin in a 278-239 win over Grace-Wyatt.
Daher-Mazurco started with an open frame. They came back with 4 strikes, spare, double,
spare with Mazurco closing the game with 3 strikes in a 237-221 win over Matt Anderson- Jeff
Edwards.
Daher – Mazurco won the semi-final match 230-172. It was a close game until Jeff Grego-
Bill Kazmierski closed with three open frames.
Daher – Mazurco won the title with a 217-193 win. A close 3-pin lead turned into a 26-pin
spread after the 7th frame. Daher carried a nose hit for a triple. Strike working on 3 in a row
left a 10 pin, which he missed.
Mazurco said he just wants to see the name banner which all winners receive. Daher said,
“ It is a thrill to win that first title. I got lucky but I’ll take it. This also puts me in the running for
Bowler of Year.”
The next tournament is June 18 at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights.
