NIDIFFER WINS 5TH TITLE AT ROYAL SCOT

Craig Nidiffer is one of the hottest bowlers in the Budweiser Michigan Majors Bowling
Association.  Nidiffer won back to back titles at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing and 3rd title
overall in 2011. Bob Stempien holds the record for most titles in one year with 4 in 1985.
I would not bet against Nidiffer to tie or break the record with four tournaments to go.
This was his 5th title. He won at Royal Scot in 2009 and is the defending champ at Bay
Lanes, the site of the next tournament.
Ken Wyatt rolled 1500 in the six game qualifying round to pace the 69 bowlers. Randy
Warnken had the only 300 game in the final game of the qualifying round. He kept his
hot hand going to surge into the #1 seed for the stepladder final.
John Murphy won the opening match over Troy Stus by closing with 4 strikes for a 226-
tie game. Murphy won the 9-10 frame roll-off 40-39. The next match was no contest as
Nidiffer defeated Murphy 267-195.
The semi-final match was more of the same as Nidiffer won 261-194 over Ken Wyatt.
The championship match went down to the 10th frame against Warnken. Nidiffer left a 7-
10 split in his 8th frame giving Warnken a chance to close him out. Warnken left a 7 pin
in his 9th frame between strikes for a 222 game. Nidiffer needed 2 strikes in his final
frame which he got for a 226 game.
Nidiffer said, “I thought it was over when I left that split. I got lucky when Randy left that
7 pin giving me a chance. The money is nice to win but I bowl because of the tough
competition. It is never easy to win in the Michigan Majors.”
The next tournament is October 15 at Bay Lanes in Bay City.
