DUANE HENDERSON WINS 1ST TITLE
The Budweiser Michigan Majors Bowling Association kicked off its 46th year at
Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.
Duane Henderson also was happy to see a New Year. Henderson had toiled for 14
years on the MMBA tour. Looking to the heavens, Duane yelled a big finally as he won
his first title.
Henderson was also the leading qualifier as he paced the 91 entries with a six game
1581 score. There were three 300 games in the qualifying by Henderson, Dale
Hofmeister and Doug Evans.
The opening match of the stepladder final saw Bob Chamberlain Jr. fresh off his winning
the Tournament of Champions with a 222-218 win over Ryan Mitter.
Chamberlain won the next match 223-206 over Carleton Chambers. It was all Dale
Hofmeister in the semi-final match 234-178 over Chamberlain
The championship match Henderson kept his hot hand going with a surprising easy win
267-199 win over Hall of Famer Hofmeister with 17 titles.
Henderson still all smiles said, “This is fantastic. I finally got that banner after all these
Years.”
The next tournament is February 18 at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights.
