| BOB CHAMBERLAIN JR. WINNS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS CO-SPONSORED BY ANSARA RESTAURANTS Bob Chamberlain Jr. had to defeat Dale Hofmeister, a Michigan Majors Hall of Famer, to capture the Budweiser Michigan Majors Tournament of Champions at Taylor Lanes. The T of C is billed as the “best of the best” and did they ever prove that cliché. No more so than Hofmeister. He shattered the all time 10 game record with a score of 2630 with games of 259-300-239-244-237-245-279-269-279-279. Hofmeister overlapped the field by over 200 pins to gain the #1 seed for the stepladder final. Jeff Austreng also had a 300 game in the qualifying round. Craig Nidiffer, the 2011 Bowler of the Year, seeking a record tying 4th title in one year fell just 7 pins shy of making the stepladder final. The opening match of the finals had Justin Crosby defeat Mason Brantley 237-217. Chris Kliczenski edged Crosby 210-197. Kliczenski started the semi-final match with two opens which proved too much to overcome. Chamberlain won 258-227. The Championship match was very strange, especially in a high scoring tournament. Hofmeister started by missing two one pin spares and had four open frames. Chamberlain also had three open frames, but the rest of the game was all strikes in a 209-167 win. Hofmeister said, “my arm just tighten up. No excuses, Bob bowled better.” Chamberlain said, I just felt good all day. What a thrill. This is one tournament that I have won that my father hasn’t. I can hardly wait to call him.” Chamberlain senior is in the Michigan Majors Hall of Fame. The first tournament of the 46th year for the Michigan Majors will be held on Jan 14, 2012 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.
